This qualification reflects the role of workers in a range of early childhood education settings who work within the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations and the National Quality Standard. They support the implementation of an approved learning framework, and support children’s wellbeing, learning and development. Depending on the setting, educators may work under direct supervision or autonomously.

How long is the course?

The course duration is typically 8 to 12 months. Students generally have between 10 to 15 contact hours per week for classes, and should set aside 10-15 hours per week for personal study time. Assessment types vary, but can include demonstrations, knowledge tests, observations, case studies, reports, projects and presentations. *Course duration may vary based on frequency of delivery and public holidays

What does the course involve?

This course is undertaken as a combination of class based, work placement and independent learning tasks. Students are required to attend classes as timetabled and allow time for additional independent study. Work placement of a minimum of 120 hours in an approved centre is requirerd for the successful completion of the course. Workplace assessments will be conducted during a participant’s placement.
